Amid the massive increase in mobile computing AMD has officially introduced their Turion X2 Ultra on Wenesday. This next gen platform for notebook computing offers heavy increases in high-def graphics while improving power consumption by up to 1 1/2 hours.

Turion-X2 Ultra is what’s it’s called (prior codename Puma), this is AMD’s newest Notebook/Laptop CPU which integrates graphics (ATI XGP™) capabilities. This is not a competitor to Intel’s Atom, VIA’s Nano or the new ARM -based Tegra from Nvidia, but rather meant exclusively for larger platforms of the non-Ultramobile type.
