Turion-X2 Ultra is what’s it’s called (prior codename Puma), this is AMD’s newest Notebook/Laptop CPU which integrates graphics (ATI XGP™) capabilities. This is not a competitor to Intel’s Atom, VIA’s Nano or the new ARM -based Tegra from Nvidia, but rather meant exclusively for larger platforms of the non-Ultramobile type.
In fact, according to AMD’s notebook division brand manager Scott Shutter, his company has no immediate desire to enter the fast growing market of smaller machines, as he was quoted as saying:
“Our road map has us going there (the UMPC market) in the future–the first half of 2010. We will have products that play into that space when we believe that growth warrants it”

Hmm…. So that’s roughly two years from now, well, if they don’t have any interest in the UMPC market perhaps they do with the Netbook one. I just noticed that Jkkmobile has unearthed some cool pics of an AMD based Netbook that sports a ATI’s RS690 and Linux operating system. More on this as additional information becomes clear.
