As we wrote earlier, the Acer Aspire One is real and it looks like a real contender to the throng for the MiniNotebook marketplace which is currently held by Asustek’s Eee PC line. As more and more info becomes available about this new entry, the only real new news is the starting price-point, at $379 Acer looks to be a real challenger to the Eee PC supremacy even with the introduction of the 900 line (hint: there’s breaking news that a new Eee PC 1000 will finally be unveiled at Computex tomorrow).
Aspire One will be available July 2nd and will come with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom with a 533Mhz FSB, 4 8GB solid-state drive, 512MB of RAM, a 8.9 inch 1024 x 768 pixel display, 802.11 b/g WiFi and a battery with a 2-3 hour operating time. Later in July an second Aspire will be available with an 80GB HD and come preloaded with Windows XP Home, however, the price for this version is currently unknown.
